Understanding Motivation and Supporting Change: Diabetes UK Workshops on Psychological Aspects of Diabetes September - November 2008: UK

Diabetes UK continues its series of workshops addressing current issues in psychological care relating to diabetes in 2008. Building on last year's workshops on the psychological aspects of hypoglycaemia, the theme of this year's workshops is "understanding motivation and supporting change". Prepared and facilitated by the Psychological Aspects of Diabetes (PAD) Working Group (of which Jane Speight is a member), the workshops aim to improve the knowledge and skills of health professionals in delivering psychological care to people with diabetes. Participants will explore the components of motivation and what influences it, and its impact on the self-management of diabetes. Workshops will be based in London on 23 September, Birmingham on 16 October and Edinburgh on 19 November. Numbers are limited so you need to book early to avoid disappointment. For further information, please contact us or visit the PAD workshop website.

The 2nd Therapeutic Patient Education Congress & 4th International DAWN Summit 5-8 November 2008: Budapest, Hungary

A significant aim of the Congress is the clarification of more efficient strategies to facilitate individuals' inner motivation and sustain healthy lifestyles. In recognition of 2008 as Year of the Child, the satellite Diabetes Attitudes, Wishes and Needs (DAWN) Summit will also include a special youth session. For more information, please contact us.
